Paul leads IEI’s business development and operations for the Detroit, Michigan office, which is supported by 170+ engineers and administrative staff in IEI’s national offices. He is a former Director of Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) with more than 32 years of experience in public infrastructure. Working alongside Julius, who has been with the Detroit office since conception in September 2021, both employ IEI values of Integrity, Excellence, and Ingenuity to create solutions for our clients throughout Michigan.
Julius Cousin III, PE brings nearly 15 years of experience and is responsible for project delivery and managing client relationships in Detroit. He joined IEI in 2013, and prior to heading to Detroit, was involved in the delivery of both design and inspection projects in Chicago.

IEI’s Detroit team has become a part of the Detroit community through its Corporate Responsibility efforts, which include involvement with local boards, committees, and events, as well as providing summer internships and mentoring for local students. Paul Ajegba, PE, is passionate about investing in young professionals as demonstrated by his years of outreach with national and local organizations, including the Engineering Society of Detroit.
